Tai Shan Photo Gallery
As one of China's five divine mountains, Tai Shan
was a must-see. Situated atop the clouds
with no roads leading up, all the temples and buildings
were created by carrying goods up the mountain's stone
steps. Pictures of these steps, which lead to an active
Confucian temple, should convey a sense of how surreal
the entire environment was. I spent the night at the
sole hotel on the peak of the mountain because it
allowed me to watch one of the most miraculous sunrises
known to man (see below). All in all, the top of the
mountain was a world unto itself, and the kind of place
where I would be content to die in my later years.
